Contests & Prizes

Enter your best modeling work and get a chance to share in cash, free EXPO admission, and prizes!

Judging is by popular vote. All attendees, vendors, volunteers and clinicians will receive one ballot per person, group, family or company registration. Show staff are not eligible to vote. Votes will be counted by Expo staff after judging closes on Saturday 10/15/11 at 12PM. In the event of a tie in any category, a committee formed of three of the shows Platinum Clinicians will vote to determine a winner.

• Best In Show:
  This is a contest for best overall entry from any of the other contest categories: One winner only - cash prize.

• Best Modular Section
  Our HO Scale Moduler Layout - Build a section! Details coming soon! Ist place winners receive free admission to next years Expo. 2nd & 3rd place winners receive a contest certificate.

• The 4x4:
  Enter any scale model scene and/or structure within a 4” square area, can be 4" round as well – no limit on height. All scales. Ist place winners receive free admission to next years Expo. 2nd & 3rd place winners receive a contest certificate.

• The 12x12:
  Enter any scale model scene and/or structure within a 12” square area. No limit on height. All scales. Ist place winners receive free admission to next years Expo. 2nd & 3rd place winners receive a contest certificate.

• Rolling Stock – Freight or Locomotive:
  Enter any form of rolling stock in any scale. Ist place winners receive free admission to next years Expo. 2nd & 3rd place winners receive a contest certificate.

• Marine Challenge:
  Enter any form of a scale model marine vehicle; boats, ships, barges, etc…Any Scale. Ist place winners receive free admission to next years Expo. 2nd & 3rd place winners receive a contest certificate.

• Best Structure:
  Enter any built up structure that is free standing, not attached to a base. Any Scale. Ist place winners receive free admission to next years Expo. 2nd & 3rd place winners receive a contest certificate.

• Big Diorama Contest:
  Enter any large diorama and structure scene, larger than 12” square. Any scale. Ist place winners receive free admission to next years Expo. 2nd & 3rd place winners receive a contest certificate.

• Photo Contest - Enter your favorite photo of a railroad model structure or rolling stock scene. Ist place winners receive free admission to next years Expo. 2nd & 3rd place winners receive a contest certificate.

• Door Prizes:
  There is  a single Grand Door Prize valued at nearly $1000 in merchandise. It will include one kit by South River Model Works, one by Fine Scale Miniatures and and several smaller kits supplied by Railroad Kits.com, Atlantic Scale Modelers, Fos Scale Models & BEST Trains.
  There will also be door prizes supplied by manufacturers.
